Many of my supporters have been asking me when the candidate selection meeting is going to be. That is unknown at this moment but I can tell you with some degree of certainty the reason for the delay and the sequence of events as I understand them. Firstly, part of the reason for our delay in selecting our candidate, is our recent riding boundary change. Our Eastward boundary for Windsor-Tecumseh used to end (with one or two exceptions) at Manning Road. Elections Canada have now extended that east as far as The Puce River. The new name for our riding is now Windsor-Tecumseh-Lakeshore. This new catchment area of ours used to be part of the riding of Essex. It is important, that the people of this area have the chance to announce their intention of applying for the candidacy to represent the party. Hence the delay, while party members in that area are informed.

In the short term, applications for the candidacy will be issued to interested persons who wish to run. No applications have yet been issued, but I can confirm I am on the list. After the completed applications have been submitted to party Head Quarters, there follows a period of several weeks of vetting of the applicants, to ensure there are no issues such as criminal background, bankruptcies and other issues which may be embarrassing to the party if selected as the official candidate.

The vetted applicants will then have a period where they can have access to the membership to communicate their details, in order to explain why they should be selected.

The riding membership will be invited to attend a meeting where they will have the opportunity to hear each candidate applicant speak and take questions from the floor. Attendees will also be given a ballot,to select which of the candidate applicants they believe has the best chance of winning the seat, and representing their interests in Ottawa as their future MP.

It is important to mention that members will have had to have been a member of the party for a minimum of 21 days prior to being allowed to vote for their candidate of choice. Therefore, because of the great political uncertainty of these times, I would urge everyone to join the party ASAP. You can join through my website at victorgreenformp.ca

Anyone over the age of 14 can become a member and vote to select the candidate.

I would ask that you please forward this email,together with your valuable personal endorsement, to as many of your friends,family and contacts who live in this new riding as possible. Perhaps even asking them to do the same, as the process of duplication is worth its weight in gold.
